A friend and mentor of mine defines true power as doing what you say you are going to do, both in the context of working with others and in the commitments we make to ourselves. I like the simplicity of this definition, and also that it’s a work in progress. Power isn’t something that we have and then might lose forever. Especially if we think about it existing in the context of the relationship to ourselves and others. And when we give our power to others by allowing them and their actions to have an undo impact on our lives, we can take our power back at any point. This Solar Eclipse, my friends, is that point. The Capricorn energy is very strong with not only the Sun and Moon in Capricorn but also Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto. Capricorn reminds us that we are the captain of our own vibrational ship.
Since this is an eclipse, we’ll most likely experience some crisis in consciousness about our current boundaries and commitments. Our responses to any current authority figures can give us plenty of material to explore. If we are really ready to move on from patriarchal power dynamics, then let’s explore what an alternative might look like. Consider a partnership model that celebrates a common mission and aim instead of a specific leader and a dualistic right/wrong approach. To be successful in a new leadership paradigm, we need to be clear on what we want our personal contribution to be. During the Venus retrograde period this fall (10/6-11/15), relationships that were past their prime for this journey became abundantly clear. Now we are ready to shake hands with our true partners, those that we respect without reservation. We don’t have to go it alone.
Capricorn loves a plan. Think back to mid August 2018. What visions and plans were starting to hatch? How did you refine/adjust them during the fall and early winter? Now we’re ready to take the next step, that of aligning our time and energy to take concrete action. We’re planning the mountain we’re going to climb in 2019. One way to accomplish this is to set a framework and some outcomes that would give you joy, while holding the path to get there gently, knowing that we’ll be learning as we go. Balancing our inner scales around our current attitudes towards self-discipline and resources (time and money) is important boundary work to build a strong foundation for this year. Our sense of worth and self-respect are cornerstones for a healthy level of self-discipline. It’s easier to talk about whether we feel respected by others or not (and this came up a lot during the Venus retrograde period in the fall) versus the level of self-respect we currently have. Our life experiences contain so much wisdom. Celebrate your unique path to increase self-respect for this coming chapter.
Intentions to ponder: My inner nature sets the course for my experiences externally. I respect and value the experiences that have led me to this point. I have access to all the perseverance and determination I need to achieve what I commit my heart to. I enjoy working with true allies to build a web of connection that benefits me personally as well as my community.
