This is the third full moon in a series of full moons (the last one is next month, the first one was in December) that occurs at 0 degrees, pointing to all of the potency and potential of the sign it falls in. Virgo helps us with pragmatic precision and self-discipline, especially in our day to day routines. This earthy energy is all about bringing order to chaos to increase our effectiveness in tangible ways. The moon is at perigee, meaning it’s closest in its orbit to the earth, giving it the fun title of “Supermoon.” The full moon always rises shortly after sunset, so look to the east around dinner time to catch a beautiful view of it. How appropriate that this Virgo full moon is up close and personal, giving us a more detailed view of the moon and allowing us to feel its presence more directly in our day-to-day lives.
Important Virgo gifts to keep in mind are integrating the newfound spiritual vision/attitude we’ve been experiencing as well as being discriminating regarding what key things we are going to focus our daily energy on. We are in a sifting and sorting mood, taking baby steps to ensure our daily actions match with our longer term aspirations. Bringing mindfulness practices to our daily chores helps us ground and integrate the different levels of our being after what has been an expansive start to the year.
A strong Pisces signature balances the pragmatism of Virgo with Mercury joining Neptune in Pisces. This softens hard edges and allows us to more readily tap into our intuition and right brain, as well as our psychic abilities. Pay attention to synchronicities (also called coincidences) that occur in your day. There is magic afoot! Next month Mercury turns retrograde from 3.5-3.26, and with this full moon we are starting to feel the pull of it. This is an excellent time to strengthen your connection to the universal guidance we all have access to. We’re needing to sense the deeper emotional dynamics behind our hopes and desires.
Venus joins Saturn in Capricorn on 2/18, highlighting where our long term commitments lie in our relationships. This is excellent energy to reach out to mentors and guides on your path for feedback and support. On the flipside, you may have others in your community who are looking to you for connection and input. Compassionate feedback is fitness for our humility, so seek out ways to request input from others that you trust which can help you assimilate recent experiences and clarify next steps.
In summary, this supermoon is calling for increased levels of embodiment in our day to day lives. Chop wood and carry water, as the Zen saying goes, to integrate and ground the expansive and visionary energy that was afoot earlier this month. Seek out compassionate feedback from mentors and be willing to give it to others when requested.
