The Leo full moon happens every year at some point between 1.20-2.19, i.e. during the depths of winter for us in the Northern Hemisphere. It comes as an important reminder for us to stoke the fire of our heart’s desire to access our unlimited resource of creative energy to power us through the rest of the winter. For this specific Leo full moon, the sun is sandwiched between Jupiter and Saturn, requiring us to focus and have excellent mental hygiene on what we are giving our attention to. With Jupiter playing such a strong part, as it is right next to the Sun and therefore opposite the moon, something is expanding in our world. Typically, whatever we are giving our mental space to will grow when Jupiter comes to town, so make it something good.
With the astrology of this full moon, it is possible that we’ll have the feeling/thought that we’ve made a mess of something. If so, it’s time to ask for help from a loyal friend or mentor. This isn’t the time to be overly stoic and show a stiff upper lip. Chances are it’s not as bad as you think, and it’s time to turn down the drama and pay attention to the overall outcome you want. Mercury is going retrograde in a couple days (1/30 – 2/20), which means communication could be glitchy. Have patience and a sense of humor in the face of any technical issues or mixed messages with others. More will be revealed in the coming weeks, so it’s very important not to jump to conclusions for the sake of a dramatic embellishment on a current story.
Mars and Uranus are right next to each other in Taurus, squaring this full moon. Usually this brings some fireworks and friction, or creative tension, for you to break out of a stagnant situation or thought pattern. When water sits still, it stagnates. It has to move in order to renew itself. Our emotions are like that too, which is why I think exercise in any form has such a direct impact on our emotional state. If you feel stuck, move your body in whatever way feels good to help break up and clear your mental and emotional state of being. The goal here is for you to feel more free and more like yourself. You may need to assert your independence to ensure you have the space and freedom you need going forward.
Questions to Ponder: In what ways can I deepen my connection to my innermost longings? How can I best access the resilient power of my heart to power me through any current challenges? Where am I rewriting the storyline and making myself the heroine versus victim?
