1.6 Full Moon in Cancer: Psychological Safety

You are here: Home / Moon Report / 1.6 Full Moon in Cancer: Psychological Safety

//  by Lizzy Zuege//  Leave a Comment

Every being on this earth, no matter how big or small, starts out small, as a seed or cluster of cells. It takes luck, time, nurturing, and resources to grow into maturity. Cancer energy rules the process of tending to something that is vulnerable and can’t care for itself in order for it to blossom and grow into its full beingness. This full moon asks you to get honest with what you are tending and nurturing right now. Are you committed to seeing it through till the end? If it’s a project, do you have a sense of what your end goal is, i.e. when it will reach maturity? Remember that it is also your role to nurture independence and step back to see if something can exist on its own. Because Venus in Aquarius features strongly in this full moon, establishing some boundaries for independence might well be in order.

With full moons, our emotions are on display and because this is a Cancer full moon, there is no escaping all the feels coursing through your being right now. With Mercury right next to the Sun and opposing the moon, you need to talk it out. There is some processing you are doing about a past event that is stuck in your proverbial craw. Feel it fully and then let it go. If you feel nervous energy or anxiety, get outside and go for a walk or retreat into your Cancer shell and take a bath.

The gift of this full moon is to practice putting on your own oxygen mask first when it comes to your emotional needs. Others may be clamoring for your attention, but if you haven’t filled your own cup, you don’t have anything to give. Focus on resolving any past issues or interactions that may be holding you back so that you can more fully move into the next chapter.

Questions to Ponder: How might I cultivate pausing before rushing in to help someone to determine/ask if my help is needed and to gauge my own energy level/boundary? In what ways can I fill up my own emotional cup with love and nurturing? Where in my life do I feel psychological safety and how can I cultivate that for myself and the others I interact with?
