With this eclipse, an area in your life where you are being naive or overly innocent is revealed. Because we have such a strong lineup in Aries – Venus, Sun, Moon, Chiron, and Mercury– you are liable to have a one-track mind and potentially overlook a weak link in a current situation. Pay attention to clues from your physical body if something seems off to help you slow down and see something for what it is, not what you want it to be. The good news if you can channel the Chiron energy appropriately, you can help and protect something that needs nurturing. Aries is the fierce advocate and coach that in its healthy manifestation will stop at nothing to help you bust through any self-imposed limitations. Is tough love needed? Or perhaps a more gentle approach? With the current bias to action, take a step that even though might feel scary you know in your heart of hearts that it’s the right thing to do.
All of this Aries energy is ruled by Mars and Saturn conjunct in Pisces. It’s fascinating to me, because Saturn tends to put the brakes on when it conjuncts a planet. You slow down, and get more methodical and cautious. Whereas the Aries planetary lineup we have going on doesn’t even have “slow down” in its vocabulary. Therefore, Mars next to Saturn helps balance any runaway Aries trains. Your impulses need to be vetted through your physical self. Any physical limitations or illnesses are messages for you to listen up and tend to with compassion.
One thing I probably don’t talk about enough with Aries is that it is a very competitive sign. It wants to be first, and you can get into comparing yourself with the success of others in a highly unproductive way. Your journey is unique. If you are in the game of out-busying, out-performing, or out-working anyone else, even in a subtle way, this eclipse will bring a correcting influence for you to check yourself. Yes, healthy competition helps you reach for more. However, if you consistently compare yourself with others to measure your self-worth, versus, say, using competition as a one-time motivation booster, you give your power away. If you are judging someone else, saying in your mind, “Well, at least I don’t do that.” or “Why did so and so make that decision?”, it’s an invitation to bring compassion to those parts of yourself that you deem unacceptable or capable of making “bad” decisions.
Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the sacred tools of anger, irritation, and crankiness. Both men and women, and especially women in our culture, are shamed and judged for expressing anger, and dismissed as “crazy.” Doubly true for women of color. Let’s just call that what it is, a tool for the patriarchy to control those that question and resist the status quo which basically means asking for equality, since patriarchal and capitalist societies thrive in a power-over dynamic. It is a radical act for you to feel your full power and an important step to increase equality in our society. Fire is a powerful element. A single match can just as easily burn down a forest as it can heat your home and cook your food. Do yourself a favor and feel your anger and rage if it comes up. Not so you can lash out, but so you can experience your raw power. Feel it and let it go, and you’ll see gifts of insight on the other side. Whatever you find, welcome it and honor the perspective it brings you.
Intentions: I follow my intuition to that which brings me energy and vitality. Any anger I experience helps me clarify what I really want. I take healthy risks that lead to positive renewal.
