Uranus enters Taurus on 3/6, where it will be for the next 7 years until 2026. I’m excited to see what the Taurus revolution will look like. We’ll definitely have a chance throw out the rule book when it comes to our values around money and resources and to radically simplify areas where our lives have gotten too filled up. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for that. Taurus steers clear of being too busy. Yet its energy is darn persistent and can move more mountains than those of us, myself included, who use the approach of flitting from task to task, attempting to get through an endless to-do list. Our bodies have incredible wisdom for us, and this Uranus in Taurus transit supports us in not only better accessing that guidance but also putting it to use in practical ways. Check in with your body before charging into “do” mode. What do your instincts tell you about your current approach?
From a societal standpoint, Uranus in Taurus will redefine our relationship to the earth and its resources. Thoreau published his seminal book Walden during a Uranus in Taurus, inspiring generations to find more beauty and enjoyment in the outdoors. Currently in the US there is a movement building around a “New Green Deal,” a proposed economic stimulus program that addresses both economic inequality and climate change. I think this is a beautiful example of utilizing the revolutionary energy of Uranus in Taurus in a practical way, because it addresses our values about our standard of living and the earth’s resources. Side note: the first “New Deal” which passed economic stimulus programs to help the country recover from the Great Depression, was enacted during the last transit of Uranus through Taurus in the 1930s. I would also expect to see some more developments around the technology of cryptocurrency as Taurus rules money and Uranus ushers in innovation.
On a personal level, Uranus seeks to liberate us. Sometimes we don’t even realize the limitations we’ve placed on ourselves until Uranus shines the light on them, jolting us out of our complacency. We’ll be busting up patterns of resistance to change, overconcern with accumulation and ownership, and attachment to the status quo. 2019 is looking to be a creative year with new beginnings, and I see Uranus in Taurus helping to ground us in our body wisdom. Staying connected to our center and grounded to the earth, will help us navigate these powerful transitions.
A final key point is that Uranus in Taurus offers us a wonderful opportunity to redefine and innovate our relationship to two key resources, time and money. It’s easy to forget that both time and money are human constructs, as for most of us a lot of thinking and worrying revolve around both topics. What if you were to take back your power and release fears about time and money? How would that change some of the thought and behavior patterns in your life? What would it be like to experience contentment more regularly? Two recommended resources for upgrading your relationship to money are The Soul of Money, by Lynne Twist, and The Art of Money, by Bari Tessler.
