This eclipse connects you to your need for spontaneity and adventure, a need that may have been on the back burner for the majority of this year. Now it comes roaring to the forefront, and your itchy feet will not be ignored. This is also an intensely spiritual eclipse, because it comes close to the galactic center of our galaxy, reminding you of your true home in the universe with an expanded sense of self.
We are coming up to Saturn’s conjunction with Jupiter at zero degrees Aquarius on 12/21. For this eclipse they are very close together and still in the sign of Capricorn. This means this is an unparalleled time to get your sh*t together and get organized. Traditional astrologers referred to this configuration as “the great conjunction” because it typically heralds a new era, especially economically but also politically. It happens every 20 years: the last time was in 2000, ushering in a new era of technological innovation while politically things changed significantly for US foreign policy with the 9/11 attacks. Before that it was in 1981, which brought deregulation and supposedly “trickle-down” economics. Because these two planets are conjuncting in Aquarius, I am hopeful that the next era is truly one celebrating innovation that benefits everyone, especially those in our society that have historically been left behind with our current economic policy. Aquarius is the humanitarian of the zodiac, and it will not stand by policy, actions, and institutions that only benefit the few and powerful. What this means for you personally is that there are significant opportunities, which you may or may not be aware of yet, to be a part of this innovation wave as an early adopter. When you are out on the spiritual leading edge, you can feel out of step with current trends and ahead of your time. The tide is turning, friends. This is your time to be bold and beautiful and fully engaging with what you want to create for yourself and your people throughout 2021.
As I mentioned previously, this is an intensely spiritual eclipse. Not only because it is close to the galactic center, but also because Neptune is squaring the nodes of the moon. To be fair, Neptune has been in the vicinity of this aspect for several months, it’s just getting extra close right now. In addition, the Sun, Moon, and Mercury are all conjunct each other and the south node in Sagittarius, which means they are squaring Neptune in Pisces as well. What does this mean for you? Well, your unconscious and higher self, however you seek to define them, have some messages for you. You are being asked to willingly let go of 2020. While I’m sure many of us are cheering loudly for the shift into 2021, emotionally it’s not as clear cut. You have been asked to endure a lot, including grieving for life pre-pandemic and possibly for people close to you that have transitioned. Part of making peace with the past year is to welcome the unknown into your process. Many if not most indigenous cultures have a concept of a universal spiritual force, often referred to as the “Great Spirit.” There are some who say a more accurate translation of this concept is “The Great Mystery.” I personally find this idea comforting, as it takes the pressure off of you to have things figured out. The unknown is always there. And while you may have more unknowns versus knowns for 2021, surrender to the universal guidance available asking you to dream a new dream for yourself.
Intentions: I willingly let go of 2020. Any internal (or external) conflict points me to where my being is seeking greater wholeness and connection. I follow my instincts to where I feel called to be more visible in 2021. I welcome the “Great Mystery” and the unknown, knowing there is nothing to fear and nothing to figure out.
